The 3P40 is the top of the Baumalight three point range and the high speed PTO is what defines it. Everything else in the line runs off the standard output; this one takes the tractor's high speed output and turns the wheel faster for it, which is where the extra throughput comes from rather than from a bigger disc.

The wheel is the same 34 in disc with 52 bolt-in carbide teeth that the 3P34 and 3P38 carry, and the cut is the same 25 in above grade and 14 in below with a 32 in reach. Behind it sits the HPR gear box, which is the heavy duty unit in the range and the reason the supplier calls this its most powerful PTO model. It also does a different job here than on the rest of the frame: the standard speed machines step the tractor's shaft speed up at the wheel, while this one carries the high speed output straight through at the same speed. The wheel turns faster than anything else in the family, and it is the tractor's own output that makes it so rather than the gearing. The supplier's grind time chart puts the same cut at 2 minutes behind a 120 horsepower tractor, the quickest figure published anywhere in this family.

It swings through 65 degrees on its own cylinders like the rest of the hydraulic frame, sits on a Category II hitch, and wants two rear remotes with the S1050 valve kit covering a tractor that has one. Because it drives off the high speed PTO output, check the tractor has one before ordering; the 3P38 covers the same power band on the standard output.

Selection Notes

This machine needs a 1,000 rpm PTO output. Confirm the tractor has one before ordering. The 3P38 covers a similar power band on 540 rpm.
Two rear remotes are wanted. If the tractor has one, order the S1050 valve kit variant, which ships installed from the factory.
Category II hitch, and this model is not quick hitch compatible.
Book freight against the part number ordered, because the single chart figure matches the valve kit build rather than the standard machine.
