Where Orders Ship From

Every order ships directly from the manufacturer or distributor. Smaller items ship by ground parcel carrier, and larger items and heavy equipment ship on a pallet by LTL freight. Checkout shows the shipping options for exactly what is in your cart.

Baumalight is a Canadian manufacturer based in Wallenstein, Ontario. Baumalight orders ship either from Baumalight in Wallenstein or from a Baumalight distributor in the U.S. We cover any customs or brokerage charges on these orders, so you won’t be billed for them at delivery.

Delivery Area

We deliver to the 48 contiguous states. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, military (APO/FPO/DPO) addresses or addresses outside the United States, and checkout does not offer shipping to them.

How Shipping Is Priced

Your shipping price is calculated at checkout, before you pay, and each option shows its full price. There is no separate handling fee.

Freight is priced by your ZIP code (how far your state is from the warehouse the item ships from), the item's freight class (a standard pallet, or heavy freight at 1,500 lb and up) and the delivery type you choose. Items 8 feet long or longer include the carrier's overlength charge.
Ground shipping is the one option for an order of parcel items only, and it is priced by weight.
If your order has both, no separate Ground shipping option appears: the parcel items' shipping is added to each freight option.

Delivery Types

For an order with a freight item, checkout offers five delivery types, listed from the lowest price up, with the first one selected. Choose the one that matches your delivery address (see Choosing the Right Delivery Type below).

Freight: commercial address, forklift or dock on site. Commercial address with a dock, forklift or machine to unload the truck.
Freight: pick up at the carrier terminal nearest you. You collect the pallet at the carrier's terminal nearest your ZIP; bring a trailer. Lowest cost.
Freight: commercial address, liftgate delivery. Commercial address; the truck lowers the pallet to the ground.
Freight: jobsite or limited-access site. Jobsite, farm or other limited-access site; a machine on site to unload.
Freight: residential liftgate delivery. Home address; the truck lowers the pallet to the ground. Carrier residential fee included.

Dock delivery and terminal pickup are always the same price and the lowest cost. Commercial liftgate, jobsite and residential liftgate delivery each add the carrier's fee for that service, and the price on each line is the total.

Several Units and Several Brands

Several units of the same brand ship together on one truck, and checkout prices them as one shipment. More units cost more to ship than one, but less than ordering them one at a time, and the fee for your delivery type is charged once per shipment.
Items from different brands ship separately, each from its own manufacturer or distributor, so they may arrive on different days. Checkout adds the shipments together, so each option shows the full shipping price for your order.

Terminal Pickup

When you choose Freight: pick up at the carrier terminal nearest you, we book your shipment to be held at the carrier's terminal nearest your ZIP code, with you as the consignee. The carrier notifies you when it arrives.

Bring your own trailer and a photo ID.
Load the pallet with your own forklift, or have the terminal load it. If you want the terminal to load it, we first confirm with the terminal that it can, and then you arrange the pickup time with the terminal.
Pick up within the carrier's free storage window, usually 2 to 3 business days after the shipment arrives. The carrier's storage fees after that are passed on to you at its actual charge, and we tell you the amount before we charge it.
If the carrier for your item's brand cannot hold shipments at a terminal, we switch your order to dock delivery at a commercial address you name with a dock, forklift or machine to unload, at no extra charge.

Choosing the Right Delivery Type

The delivery type you choose at checkout has to match your delivery address:

A home address needs Freight: residential liftgate delivery, unless you pick up at the terminal.
A commercial address without a dock, forklift or machine to unload needs Freight: commercial address, liftgate delivery.

If the type you chose does not match your address, for example a home address with the dock option, we contact you before your order ships to switch it either to the matching type, invoicing you the difference, or to terminal pickup. Nothing ships until that is settled.

To change your delivery address or delivery type after you order, contact us before your order ships. Carrier charges for changes you ask for after you order, such as a new delivery address, a reroute or storage, and for a redelivery after a missed delivery, are passed on to you at the carrier's actual charge, and we tell you the amount before we charge it.

Handling and Transit Times

Handling: orders ship within 1 to 3 business days.
Transit: once your order ships, freight reaches you in 3 to 7 business days and ground parcel in 1 to 5 business days, depending on distance.

For terminal pickup, the same transit time applies to your shipment reaching the terminal. Business days are Monday to Friday, not counting US holidays. All times are estimates, not guarantees.

Orders paid by wire transfer, ACH or business check ship after payment clears. If your order will ship later than these times, we contact you and keep you fully updated throughout the process.

On Delivery

Freight is delivered to the curb or the closest point the truck can safely reach. Inside delivery is a special delivery; see Freight Quotes and Contact above.

Inspect the pallet before the driver leaves, or before you leave the terminal, and note any damage or shortage on the delivery receipt. Email photos of the damage, the packaging and the SKU to support@hardscapeheavy.com within 24 hours of delivery or pickup, including any damage you find while unpacking. We file the freight claim for you, as our Refund Policy describes.
