The Baumalight TN548 is a 500 series trencher on a universal skid steer plate for 3,000 to 7,000 lb skid steers, digging 48 in deep and 6, 8 or 10 in wide by chain choice on a planetary drive, and it takes an optional 3-point hitch adaptor for hydrostatic tractors. It is offered in six chain options with the D001393 and D003074 adaptors and the S1050 valve kit as add-on rows.

Delivery is available to the Lower 48 only; no shipping to Alaska, Hawaii or other US territories. Shipping is a flat rate based on your order total:

  • Orders up to $5,000: $279
  • Orders $5,000.01 to $10,000: $347
  • Orders $10,000.01 and over: $517

These rates cover standard freight delivery to a commercial address. After you place your order, our team will confirm your delivery timeline within 1 to 3 business days.

Liftgate service is required if your delivery location has no loading dock or forklift to unload the freight. If you are unsure whether you need it, contact us before ordering.

Commercial delivery locations are preferred when available. Residential delivery, limited-access locations, and appointment scheduling may affect handling and extend delivery time.

The Baumalight TN548 is a 500 series trencher on a universal skid steer plate, digging 48 in deep and 6 to 10 in wide behind a mid size skid steer or, with the optional three point hitch adaptor, a hydrostatic tractor. It is for contractors and trade professionals who bury cable and utility lines below the reach of a 36 in machine and want one head that works off either carrier.

A planetary drive unit delivers hydraulic power straight to the sprocket of the digging chain, with no roller chain to stretch or jump, and the sealed drive keeps dirt out of the gearing. Spoil is carried out to the side of the trench and kept close for backfilling, the hinged crumb scraper bar sweeps loose material back into the chain at any depth, and the solid steel nose runs on dual tapered roller bearings behind a machined washer, a rubber seal and a grease fitting. This is built for the crews that run service lines at depth every week and want the trench, the spoil and the backfill handled in one pass.

Selection Notes

  • Six chain options are offered, cup tooth or 50/50 rock tooth and cup chain, in 6, 8 and 10 in widths. The rock and cup chain carries carbide rock teeth on half its holders for rocky ground, and the supplier offers a bullet style tooth for rocky soil on request.
  • The carrier band is 3,000 to 7,000 lb skid steers at 40 to 100 HP and 15 to 25 GPM; on a tractor with the adaptor the charted band is also 15 to 25 GPM.
  • The three point hitch adaptor is a bolt-on with a cylinder for angle and depth control, D001393 for CAT 1 or D003074 for CAT 2. The tractor must have a hydrostatic drive and two hydraulic remotes; the S1050 valve kit serves tractors with one remote and is not included with either adaptor. All three are offered as add-ons at the supplier's own prices, and the S1050 is offered only with an adaptor.
  • The freight weight on each row is the highest of the weights for that row, plus the adaptor and kit weights on the add-on rows.
