The GXM750 takes a stump out below grade and leaves it on site as chip, so a crew can regrade or pave the spot the same day instead of digging a root ball out and hauling it away. It bolts to the excavator arm rather than hanging on pins, so the head goes wherever the boom goes, over a bank, across a ditch, or into a gap too tight to stand a walk-behind machine in front of. It is built for arborists, site clearance crews and utility contractors running a 7 to 18 ton carrier, the largest carrier class this range is built for.

The rotor is 24 in across and anchors 12 round carbide teeth packed in groups of three, and the tooth design is where the running cost sits: each tooth loosens and turns to a fresh edge three times before it is spent, and because the work is shared they are replaced two or three at a time rather than as a set. An extra-large blast shield with a dual row of safety chain curtains keeps the chip on the ground, and the same shield doubles as a blade for pushing the pile back into the hole without the operator leaving the cab. Four motor options fit this frame and they are not a bigger-is-better ladder: at the flows two options share, the larger one is never the quicker, so what it buys is the top of the flow band rather than time. Rated pressure moves the clock as hard as the motor does, every option grinding at least as fast on the higher of its two rated pressures, so match the option to what the carrier actually delivers on both counts, confirm that carrier has a case drain, and read the times each option makes on a 24 in stump in Technical Details.

Selection Notes

• Match the motor option to the carrier flow. Each option has its own usable band, and they are in Technical Details.
• The larger motor is not the faster motor. At 30 GPM and 3,000 PSI, X540 and X550 each grind a 24 in stump in 6 min where the larger X570 takes 7, and at 40 GPM X550 and X570 take 4 min where the largest option, X590, takes 5. X570 and X590 earn their place by reaching 50 and 60 GPM, which the smaller options do not.
• Rated pressure is the second half of the choice. Every option on this frame grinds at least as fast at 4,000 PSI as at 3,000 PSI, by up to 2 min, and no option is slower.
• A case drain is critical on every motor option. Confirm the carrier has one before ordering.
• Carrier sizing is a recommendation in tons and is not a lift capacity.
• Mount Option changes what arrives, and with Excavator Weight Class it is the second real decision to make. Blank Weld-On Plate Only ships the supplier's own blank plate: D001161 on the 7 to 9 ton class, which the supplier rates to 10 ton, and the larger D001419 above it, which the supplier rates for 8 to 25 ton. The buyer welds either on. The three coupler options arrive fitted to the carrier instead.
• Excavator Weight Class is not a duplicate of the motor choice. It sizes the mount to the carrier, and the supplier prices and weighs its couplers by that same ton banding, running about 200 lb at 7 to 9 ton and about 275 lb at the top of this frame's range.
• A coupler is fitted to your specific machine, not to this model. Give the excavator brand and model when ordering.
• The plate's mounting bolt set, D004951, is a separate supplier part number. The supplier lists it as free when the mount is ordered with the whole good. Confirm at time of order.
