The MS560 is the middle head in Baumalight's 500 series, the line built for maintaining and clearing fence lines on farms and for entry level contractor work. It mulches heavy brush and small trees on a full-size skid steer, and it clears a swath wider than its own rotor, so a run closes in fewer passes than the cutting width alone suggests. Unlike the smaller heads in the series it works below grade rather than stopping at level, which is what lets it take a stump collar or a root flush instead of shaving over it.

Every motor option on this head is a bent axis piston motor, built to make the most of the flow and pressure a carrier actually has, and that is why case drain is charted as critical on all five of them at every rated pressure. A large pressure gauge is standard, and it is the instrument that shows an operator how close the machine is to relief, the point past which the mulcher stops being productive. The integrated push bar bends standing material into the rotor instead of letting it fold under the machine. Match the motor option to the carrier's flow on Baumalight's own motor chart before ordering, and confirm the carrier has a case drain line first, because Baumalight states plainly that running a piston motor without one will blow the shaft seal.

Selection Notes

• Match the head to the carrier by weight first: this model is charted against a minimum carrier weight of 5,500 lb.
• Case drain is critical on this model and on every one of the five motor options it offers, at every rated pressure. Confirm the carrier has a case drain line before ordering, or have one field installed, because Baumalight states that operating a piston motor without one will blow the shaft seal.
• Hydraulic couplers are not supplied with this model. Baumalight ships no couplers with the product because carrier fittings vary too widely, so they are ordered separately against the carrier.
• Two tooth styles are offered on the 500 series and the choice is a real one. Planer teeth take small bites and cut most efficiently, but their flat profile leaves them vulnerable to shattering against rock and debris, so they suit work where efficiency matters more than tooth life. Ripper teeth shred instead, and their V shape resists impacts with hard objects, which makes them the better choice below grade and in fence lines.
• Units ship with P5000 planer teeth fitted. Ripper teeth go on as the planer teeth need replacing, and the rotor can be run with a mix of the two styles.
• Five motor options are offered on this model and every one of them is a bent axis piston motor. Each option is charted against a carrier flow band rather than given as one flow figure for the model, so the option is chosen against the carrier's measured flow.
