The Baumalight S28 is the highest capacity machine in the skid steer stump grinder range, built for high flow carriers. It adds a high volume hydraulic motor and a gearbox that raises torque at the rotor, and runs a 24 in rotor with 34 bolt-in S1000 planer teeth on a three quarter inch steel plate.

The Baumalight S28 grinds stumps behind a 50 to 120 HP high flow skid steer, reaching 15 in below grade and 22 in across with the same 24 in rotor and 34 planer teeth as the models below it. It is for contractors and rental fleets whose carriers sit at the top of the flow range and whose work is heavy enough that a machine sized for a mid range carrier would stall in it.

What changes on this model is underneath the rotor rather than around it. A high volume motor feeds a gearbox that raises torque at the wheel, so the rotor turns against a heavier load without stalling into it, and that is why the supplier puts the carrier band at the top of the range rather than the middle. Everything else follows the mid size pattern: a hydraulic swing cylinder carries the head through a 63 degree arc, a floating deflector holds debris down over the work, and the 8 pin, 14 pin and 7 pin Bobcat plugs mean a carrier carrying one of them runs the attachment from its in-cab controls without a hand control. Where an older carrier has no auxiliary electrical connection, the supplier's D004460 in-cab adapter plugs into the attachment off a 12 volt feed and runs it, which is why the hand control is offered as a choice rather than assumed.

There is one motor rather than a choice, so the real decision is about the carrier. The single S645 is charted only at the two higher pressures, the one model in this group whose grinding times all start there, and at the higher of the two it will not run at the bottom of its flow band at all. A carrier that cannot reach those figures will not show what the machine can do, so read the chart in Technical Details against the carrier's own flow and pressure before choosing this over the S24.

Selection Notes

This model is built for high flow carriers. Its grinding times all start at 3,000 PSI, where the smaller models are also charted at 2,500 PSI.
Settle the control route before ordering. The supplier offers 8 pin, 14 pin and 7 pin Bobcat auxiliary plugs, and the right one avoids a hand control; the 7-pin CANBUS choice is the supplier's Greentronics controller for a Bobcat, supplied without the 7 pin plug and the 11 ft Bobcat wire and stated incompatible with Bobcat telehandlers, and the wired hand control is the D004460 in-cab adapter for an older carrier without the connection.
The motor wants a case drain, so check the carrier has the port.
Hydraulic couplers are not supplied on this model.
Confirm the cutting depth below ground with the supplier if the job turns on it.
