The GXM350 takes a stump out below grade and leaves it on site as chip, so a crew can regrade or pave the spot the same day instead of digging a root ball out and hauling it away. It bolts to the arm of a mini excavator rather than hanging on pins, which is the whole point of putting a grinder on an excavator: the head goes wherever the boom goes, over a bank, across a ditch, or into a gap too tight to stand a walk-behind machine in front of. It is built for arborists, site clearance crews and utility contractors running a 1.5 to 4.5 ton carrier.

The rotor anchors 24 round carbide teeth, and that tooth count is a design decision rather than a number: work shared across more teeth means each one takes a smaller bite, so they wear slower and get replaced two or three at a time instead of as a set, and each tooth loosens and turns to a fresh edge three times before it is spent. An extra-large blast shield with a dual row of safety chain curtains keeps the chip on the ground, and the same shield doubles as a blade for pushing the pile back into the hole without the operator leaving the cab. Three motor options fit this frame and they are not a bigger-is-better ladder: at the flows two options share, the larger one is never the quicker, so what it buys is the top of the flow band rather than time. Rated pressure moves the clock as hard as the motor does, every option on this frame grinding faster on the higher of its two rated pressures, so match the option to what the carrier actually delivers on both counts, confirm that carrier has a case drain, and read the times each option makes on a 24 in stump in Technical Details.

Selection Notes

• Match the motor option to the carrier flow. Each option has its own usable band, and they are in Technical Details.
• The larger motor is not the faster motor. Where two options overlap on flow, X510 grinds a 24 in stump in 15 min at 15 GPM and 3,000 PSI against X530's 16 min, and the two are level from 20 GPM up at both rated pressures. X530 earns its place by reaching 30 GPM, which neither smaller option does.
• Rated pressure is the second half of the choice. Every option on this frame grinds faster at 4,000 PSI than at 3,000 PSI, by 1 to 5 min depending on the flow.
• A case drain is critical on every motor option. Confirm the carrier has one before ordering.
• Carrier sizing is a recommendation in tons and is not a lift capacity.
• Mount Option changes what arrives, and it is the second real decision to make. Blank Weld-On Plate Only ships the supplier's own blank plate, D001161, which the supplier rates for a 1.5 to 10 ton excavator and which the buyer welds on. The three coupler options arrive fitted to the carrier instead.
• A coupler is fitted to your specific machine, not to this model. Give the excavator brand and model when ordering.
• A coupler carries weight the blank plate does not. On a 1.5 to 6 ton carrier the supplier lists a coupler at about 100 lb against the blank plate's 46 lb.
• The plate's mounting bolt set, D004951, is a separate supplier part number. The supplier lists it as free when the mount is ordered with the whole good. Confirm at time of order.
