The Baumalight FMP260 is a three-point-hitch flail mower for compact tractors, cutting a 72 in path over a 60 in rotor with 30 free-swinging flail teeth driven through a heavy duty gearbox off a 540 rpm PTO. It is rated by the supplier at 30 Hp against a 45 HP engine maximum, a slip clutch protects the driveline, and the D005553 mount dust guard ships as standard.

Delivery is available to the Lower 48 only; no shipping to Alaska, Hawaii or other US territories. Shipping is a flat rate based on your order total:

The FMP260 hangs on a compact tractor's three-point hitch and mows long heavy grass and short diameter brush over a 72 in path. It is for grounds and property crews, municipal and utility crews and trail maintenance work, on ground uneven and stony enough that each flail needs to swing back off a rock rather than take the hit on a rigid edge.

Drive is through a heavy duty gearbox rather than a light one, which is where the mowing power comes from and why the supplier expects a long service life from it, and behind it a slip clutch disengages at a preset torque so a buried obstacle stops the rotor instead of shocking the driveline back to the tractor. The tooth is the buyer's decision at order time and the two options are not a trim level: the standard F2000 is the economical flail for heavy vegetation and light to moderate brush, bolt-on and replaceable in the field, while the F3000 heavy blade is thicker steel the supplier states will double the brush size the machine will take, with no other change to the machine. A heavy duty adjustable roller bar holds an even mow height across ground that is not flat, integrated skid shoes let the head float over it, and the D005553 dust guard now ships as standard on the tractor side to keep the operator out of what the head throws forward. Size the tractor to the supplier's own rating before ordering, and match the hitch class and the PTO to what this machine takes.

Selection Notes

  • Two tooth options are offered. F2000 is the standard flail tooth, an economical cutter for heavy vegetation and light to moderate brush, bolt-on and replaceable in the field. F3000 is the heavy blade at 6 mm thick, which the supplier states will double the brush size the machine will handle with no other equipment adjustment.
  • The supplier rates this model at 30 Hp and states a 45 HP engine maximum. The two answer different questions, a sizing and a ceiling. Confirm the tractor against both before ordering.
  • The hitch is CAT 1 and quick-hitch compatible, the PTO runs at 540 rpm, and both spline sizes are 1-3/8 in. Confirm all four against the tractor before ordering.
  • The unit weight is 900 lb. The supplier bills freight per part number at 1,050 lb for the F2000 and 1,065 lb for the F3000.
  • The slip clutch is the driveline protection. It disengages at a preset torque rather than passing the shock back to the tractor.
  • The D005553 mount dust guard ships standard and mounts on the tractor side.
