The FMM148 is a mini skid steer's mowing tool rather than a scaled-down mulcher, taking a 61 in path over a 48 in rotor through long heavy grass and short diameter brush. It is for landscape and grounds crews, municipal and utility crews and rental fleets whose largest machine is a mini carrier, working the verges, ditches and tight access a full-size machine cannot reach, on ground where each flail swings back off a stone instead of taking the hit on a rigid edge.

Power comes straight off the carrier through a direct-drive motor, with no belt between the motor and the rotor to tension or replace, which is fewer moving parts on a machine that spends its life in dirty, confined work. The tooth is the real decision at order time and the two are not a trim level: the standard F2000 is the economical flail for heavy vegetation and light to moderate brush, bolt-on and replaceable in the field, while the F3000 heavy blade is thicker steel the supplier states will double the brush size the machine will take, with no other change to the machine. Around that, the hoses run armoured and sleeved on a pivoting arm whose greaseable pin keeps the slack clear of pinching and strain, integrated skid shoes let the head float over the ground, and a heavy duty adjustable roller bar holds the mow height across ground that is not flat. Two carrier questions decide whether it will run at all and both are worth settling before the order goes in: the flow it can supply, and whether it has a case drain, because this machine requires one.

Selection Notes

• Two tooth options are offered. F2000 is the standard flail tooth, an economical cutter for heavy vegetation and light to moderate brush, bolt-on and replaceable in the field. F3000 is the heavy blade at 6 mm thick, which the supplier states will double the brush size the machine will handle with no other equipment adjustment.
• This machine requires a case drain.
• The flow band for this model is 8 to 15 GPM with a 2,000 to 4,000 PSI range. Baumalight's flow and pressure database covers over a thousand carrier models, and is where to check a specific machine.
• The unit weight is 585 lb. The supplier bills freight per part number at 730 lb for the F2000 and 705 lb for the F3000.
• Couplers are supplied with this machine. Confirm the coupler face against the carrier before ordering.
• Drive is direct from the hydraulic motor, so there is no belt in the path between motor and rotor.
• Cut height is set on the heavy duty adjustable roller bar behind the rotor.
• A coupler adaptor is offered for two mini skid steer mounts and each is ordered on its own line. The D006290 Bobcat plate is pin mounted with vertical adjustment holes; the D007048 fits the ASV RT40. Each adds its own weight to the machine.
