The Baumalight S16 grinds stumps behind a mini skid steer and swings its head electrically, so the carrier's whole hydraulic flow reaches the rotor. It is for landscape and grounds crews working close cut turf, lawns, golf courses and grounds, where the head has to reach across a stump without the machine tracking back and forth over the grass.

A mini carrier has limited flow, and on a machine with a hydraulic swing cylinder some of it is spent moving the head instead of turning the rotor. The S16 moves the head on a 12 volt linear actuator drawing from the carrier's battery, so the hydraulics do one job only, and its 24 tooth rotor is set on both sides so it works in both swing directions rather than only one. The actuator body is stainless steel with an IP69 rating because it sits in the debris stream rather than away from it.

Two things are settled on the carrier before ordering, and the supplier is direct about both. The actuator needs constant 12 volt power through a 30 amp fuse, because the slip clutch inside it draws right up to that rating before it releases and a smaller fuse will blow in normal work; the supplier's own answer is a heavy wire run straight to the battery. The single 25 cc S508 is a bent axis piston motor whose case drain the chart marks critical rather than merely recommended, so the carrier needs a case drain port. Control comes off the carrier's 14 pin auxiliary plug where one is fitted and through the supplier's D006990 hand control adapter where it is not, and for a Bobcat mini loader with the 7 pin connector the supplier offers a Greentronics CANBUS controller in place of the 14 pin cable, which is the plug the Bobcat mount choice is paired with, so an operator works from the platform whichever way the carrier is wired.

Selection Notes

• Check the carrier's 12 volt supply before ordering. The swing actuator needs constant power through a 30 amp fuse, and the supplier states that anything smaller will fail in normal work.
• If the carrier has no auxiliary electrical plug, the D006990 wired hand control is the supplier's answer.
• The 7-pin CANBUS choice is for a Bobcat with that connector and is paired with the Bobcat MT mount. The supplier supplies the Greentronics controller without the 7 pin plug and the 11 ft Bobcat wire, and states that it is incompatible with Bobcat telehandlers, so settle the loom with the supplier at order.
• The mount choice follows the carrier: the S16 ships on its own mini plate, and the ASV and Terex RT40 and Bobcat MT choices add the supplier's cheater adaptor for that loader between the plate and the machine.
• The case drain is stated as critical for this motor. Confirm the carrier has a case drain port.
