The VEX-400 is a portable battery valve turning machine that opens, closes, and exercises water system valves with 400 peak ft-lbs of torque through a multiplying gearbox. The package ships with three 18 V batteries, a deluxe drive shaft with valve key, and extensions reaching valves 9 feet down.

Shipping & Freight

We ship to the 48 contiguous states. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, military (APO/FPO/DPO) addresses or outside the United States.

Smaller items ship by parcel carrier, priced by weight. Larger items and heavy equipment ship by LTL freight, priced by your ZIP code and the delivery type you choose: terminal pickup and dock delivery cost the least, and commercial liftgate, residential liftgate and jobsite delivery each add the carrier’s fee. Your shipping cost is shown at checkout before you pay.

The VEX-400 opens, closes, and exercises water system valves without a crew hand-cranking a key, which is how municipal water departments and treatment facilities work through a valve exercising program without wearing out their people. Stiff, stuck, and long-neglected valves are exactly the ones the torque multiplying gearbox exists for.

A rotation counter tracks turns in either direction, so the operator records what a valve program requires: how many turns to close, how many back open. The machine breaks down into its hard case for transport, stacks 12, 24, and 36 inch extensions to reach deep valve boxes, and carries three 18 V batteries so exercising continues through a full workday instead of stopping at a charger. This is built for the water utility crew that exercises valves by the hundred per season, not the plumber touching one a month.
